So this past Monday, November 12, 2007, I had my official ultrasound. My due date going into the appointment was March 15, 2008. When started the ultrasound and my doctor noticed that my baby is measuring a little small for how far along I should be (22 weeks). So by the end of the appointment he decided to move my due date back 8 days. I am now due March 23, 2008.
This is not a bad thing by ANY means. I mean, most women would be kinda upset, but I was actually quite happy. The reason being our gap insurance. Back in May, Danny and I signed up for gap insurance. It is through Aflac, Assurity, Flex-Bridge and Conseco. Basically it is a hospital confinement benefits. You have to be checked into the hospital for a minimum of 24 hours. When you have a baby, you are there for a minimum of 48 hours! It gives you a per diem every day you are there and money for the different things you will be there for (such as surgery or delivery, etc.) With all of our policies combined, we would receive a total of $10,825 total for being in the hospital for 48 hours. Not bad at ALL!!!
However, there is a hick-up to ours. You have to have the policies (most of them) for 10 months before you deliver. (Therefore a month before you get pregnant). However, it will cover you if you have a preemie, you are covered. Our policies take effect on March 1st and March 14th (depending on the company). So with my due date being the 15, we were freaking out that we would be paying all the monthly premiums, but would only collect on 2 companies. (If the baby was born before March 1st, we didn't get anything. If the baby was born between March 1 and 14 we would receive about $4000. But, if it was born after the 14th, we would receive $10,825!!! A HUGE difference) So, when the doctor pushed my due date further out, WE WERE ECSTATIC! (BTW, our premium's every month for the policy's only total up $300/month. It's a WAY good plan, if you want more info (and you live in Utah) let me know, I can HOOK you up!
So, all-in-all, we were really excited about being moved further back. The ultrasound went really well besides the baby as a little bit smaller. However, no clef lip or spina bifida!!! Very good. Normally, this is the ultrasound where MOST people find out what the gender is, we however decided to not find out and be surprised when it comes! Funny story though, the doctor was going down the spine and told us to look away if we wanted because he was curious on the sex of the baby. (He also told us that he uses the general "he", so we (me) shouldn't over analyze anything. But when, he looked we had a tape we had brought in to record the ultrasound. It was still recording when he looked. So, now we have this temptation to go watch the ultrasound and look for anything. We did. Funny thing, WE'RE NOT SAYING!!! lol... actually unless you KNOW what to look for, then you don't know what you're looking at! lol...so we still kinda don't know and I prefer it that way.
However, the bidding starts at $1000 (for you to pay us) and we will go find out the sex of the baby. I think that is really the only way for us to find out before I push the thing out. ;)
