My mom came out from Colorado this past weekend to spend some time with us! She flew out with MY grandma (Brookie's Grandma GG) on Friday and then went home Tuesday. We had so much fun to have a long weekend with mostly girls.
I picked them up from the airport on Friday and we decided to go to lunch at The Lion House in Salt Lake. We met my Grandma's sister Kathleen (she's in the red) there. It was SO super yummy.
Of course, no visit from Grandma or Grandma GG (in the purple) goes without a little Valentine for Brookie. Here is her little cherry dress that had matching headband and leggings. We are ALWAYS happy for gifts and Valentines!
My family has a tradition of giving books or novels for Valentines. This year was no different and it is Brookie's first Valentines. Grandma gave her the book "Peek-a-boo Puppy". Usually Brookie doesn't like to be read too...she just can't sit through it. However, she LOVES this book. I think it just goes to prove how much she loves dogs too... Grandma read it to her over and over and OVER, ALL WEEKEND LONG! She absolutely LOVED it! We now read it several times a day...
On Sunday, we went to church and I taught Relief Society for the first time! I was so nervous, but my lesson went well. I only got through half of it and only read 3 of the 8 quotes I passed out! My dear, dear friend Jill came to support me. We hadn't seen each other in years and it was so nice to have her there! My grandparents also came along with my mom... It was nice to have a support group in case of a low in discussion. Later, we went to the Kimball's for tacos. It was so fun and came with GREAT news... (I'm not sure if I'm entitled to post that yet...) We also got to hold our new nephew Baby Evan.
On Monday, we woke up and got ready to go through the Draper Temple Open House. It was so fun to go through with my mom and Danny and Brookie. I had been several times before as an Usher, but it was fun to walk through and tell them little bits of fun trivia I learned about the Temple as working as an Usher. It was also fun to show them were my "posts" were. OH! On Sunday too, we learned that once both the Draper Temple and Oquirrh Mountain Temples are dedicated the Salt Lake Temple is CLOSING for 2 YEARS for renovations! Crazy! After that, we were able to meet up with my mom's best friend from middle/high school and college, Gail, for lunch. (Holly, it reminded me of us in 20 years!) We then went to the doctor and the hospital for me to have some tests run. It turned out I wasn't pregnant like we has suspected for several weeks... we were pretty bummed and NO, we're NOT trying. I now need to go to the Doctor and figure out what is wrong with me. I have a ton of weird symptoms, and no, not ALL of them were the "mind over matter" stuff. After that rollercoaster, my mom and I went back home, ordered Cafe Rio Take-Out and watched Mama Mia! It was a blast.
On Tuedsay, I took both my mom and my Grandma back to the airport. However, I have a feeling it won't be too long until we see them again! ;)
I'll post video and pictures of our Guitar Hero episodes once I get them from my mom!
