Thuderstorms and Co-co's

(Note: this post is more for my "journal" entry)
Lately Brookie has been Grandma KK's little shadow! She wants to go and be wherever Grandma is. Just yesterday, I had to scold her for playing with something she wasn't suppose to touch. I slapped her hand and after I USUALLY cuddle her in and say that I love her, but not to touch or play with that... Well, after I slapped her hand, she went running off to Grandma to hold her! I wasn't too hurt, but just more shocked... She always had wanted her Mommy.

Today, after spending MANY hours away on a "mini-make over", I came home to a bedroom eyes little girl. Even after being gone most of the day and coming back, she STILL wanted Grandma to hold her. I barely got hugs and kisses from her before she wanted down.

Well, this afternoon, I got my fix. It was a GREAT moment that is the reason for this entry. I wanted to somehow document it before I forgot it's tenderness. A fairly large thunderstorm came rolling and so I took Brooke outside in the backyard to swing with me before it started to rain and for her to learn not to be scared of lightning and thunder. We were only out there for maybe 5 minutes before HUGE raindrops starting falling, accompanying by even more lightning and thunder. I walked back inside with her on my hip, but instead of just shrugging it off, I held her and we stood in the doorway watching and admiring its beauty. We were starting to get a little wet, so we went to the front porch that was better covered. I sat on the steps and we watched the rain pour and the lightning strike. It was wonderful. Brooke wasn't scared, she just sat there on my lap almost concerned. After a couple minutes, she snuggled into my arms and "co-co'ed" (cuddled). I then had to readjust my back and moved more to lean against the wall (which involved scooting across the porch). I took my arms off her and she just stayed there! Even while I scooted over! We sat there for probably 15-20 minutes just watching the storm and cuddling! I LOVED every minute of it! After a while, I sat her up and she got up the courage to wander around the porch. Not a minute later, the biggest clap of thunder yet, came! She wasn't more than an arms length away, but boy, DID SHE MOVE! She didn't cry or scream, just ran into my arms and burrowed her head into my chest! (Also now thinking this was a great warm up for the fireworks on Saturday!) I just felt so much better that she still knows she can find comfort and safety in my arms!

This moment, was one of the best I have had since becoming a mother. I don't know why it touched me like it did, but none-the-less, I wouldn't trade it for the world! I can't bare the thought of her moving out of this stage of "my parents are my heroes and can solve or fix anything...". I love being her safety and comfort. It makes me feel loved and wanted more than I could have ever imagined!

I love being a mother!

Brooke is so lucky to have you as her mother! That's a very touching moment and I'm sure she will always find comfort in your arms, no matter how old she is.
