Ok... to start this off... the 4th of July is my FAVORITE holiday... even more than Christmas! To start our wonderful day, all four (my sister came into town for basically a month to spend and hang out with us) woke up early to go see the hot air balloons (ended up getting there late and only saw a couple). We then went to the Provo Grand Parade. Danny has a cousin that owns a house on Center Street, but rents it out. However, he has IN THE CONTRACT that he gets the front lawn for the parade... so we didn't need to camp out at all, we just walked right up and had the BEST seats ever. Under a tree, front row! We then went up to a Seamons' reunion (Danny's mom's side of the family) at Mutual Dell. I met a lot of people I don't remember their names... lol... but I think thats how most reunions are... It was fun, Danny and the boys played Ultimate Frisbee. We then left and went to the field across from the Stadium of Fire to play games and watch the fireworks with Danny's family and siblings. Haley got to see "Miley Cyrus' limo" (or thats what we told her ;) shh...) She was really excited that "[she] was only a mile away from one of her favorite stars". It was really cute. We also did the little LEGAL fireworks (even we had some others...) Brooke absolutely LOVED the fireworks, we thought she might get scared, but NO! She is like her mommy and loved watching them and all the colors! (She loved the bigger ones even more). She truly is my "All American Girl".
Ok, one of the recepients of the Freedom Awards was Immaculee Ilibagiza. She is an amazing woman! Long story short... she hid in a small closet size bathroom with 6 other women for 3 months while a genocide of her tribe was going outside. Her entire family was horrifically murdered. But her story is not about survival, but forgiveness. When she returned with a reporter to her home land for the first time after the incident, she saw a man and gave him a HUGE hug and asked about his family and how he was doing. She then told the reporter she wanted a picture with this man. He later asked her who he was and she said it was the man who had killed her brother. She literally has forgiven him and loves him. She is one of my heros and role models for me. She is amazing! I recommend you read her book "Left to Tell".
Ok funny story, we were going to enter Brooke into the Baby Contest, but read the information wrong on when it was. Well the winners were walking by in the parade and all of the sudden, Danny runs up to me and grabs Brooke off my lap. The next thing I know, he is in the parade walking with all the ACTUAL winners, waving at everyone as though we had one with our cutest baby EVER! lol... it was HILARIOUS!
